Guest Group Chat — questions and answers
A property-specific WhatsApp-style group where only current guests can talk. Guests are automatically removed after their checkout date.

Guests click the chat button (bottom right) or the CTA button at the top. They see all messages instantly, but must join to reply or like.

WhatsApp is a GDPR liability as you are sharing private phone numbers with strangers. FreeGuides protects data and self-cleans.
Guests stay logged in until their checkout date and are automatically removed. For staff, you stay logged in permanently. To manually log out, clear your browser cookies/history or use incognito mode.
In the guest app, there's no visible indicator. Staff accounts don't have checkout dates so they never get removed. When using the backend portal (/official), you're always logged in as staff.
Log into the FreeGuides dashboard, click Chat, then Group Chat. You can bookmark this URL for quick access from reception computers.
Currently, the QR code and access work for the person who made the booking. Other guests in the group can scan the QR code and sign up separately with their own details. Contact support@freeguides.com if you're experiencing issues with group bookings.
Go to Group Chat > Scheduled Messages. Add your message, set the frequency (one-time, daily, weekly), and optionally add action buttons or pin it to the top. Perfect for daily good morning messages or recurring event reminders.
