Dating from 1928, the current palace is the sixth building to stand on the spot in 800 years, after a series of fires and reconstructions. Despite its relative recency, the majesty here is excellent, with all of the furniture, tapestries and exhibits in excellent condition. Paper slippers are put on to protect the beautiful parquet floors.\n\nIf you have the Copenhagen Card for tourists, admission to the royal reception rooms (as well as the nearby stables, kitchen, and underground ruins) is free. Highlights of the experience include the Queen's china collection; her ornate ceremonial library; and the Great Hall, which today is adorned with tapestries chronicling Denmark's history. The detail in the hand paintings that cover every square inch of some of the rooms is simply amazing.\n\nIf you don't have the Copenhagen Card (or don't want to pay to get in), it is still possible to walk around the courtyard and go up the tower (Copenhagen's tallest), where a nice observation area looks over the city on all sides. There's even a small elevator that takes groups of 8ish at a time to the top, so definitely do this, if nothing else.\n\nWhy You Should Visit:\nThe library is the stuff of dreams, and one could easily spend an hour looking at the modern tapestries.\n\nTip:\nAlways look out for the free English hour-long tours included in your ticket (they are at 3pm each day but also at different times in the weekends: 12pm/2pm), unless you'd rather wander the rooms on your own, reading the descriptions.\n\nOpening Hours:\nDaily: 10am–5pm (June); Tue-Sun: 10am–5pm (July–March)"},{"type":"audio","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FJNqzKxiDkvtPjpRCgrRl%2Ff05e0141-4c7a-42fa-bef5-55a8f47259c2.mp3?alt=media&token=0b7e41c9-be8d-4f28-898b-d99b76633c97"},{"metadata":{"width":576,"height":1024},"type":"video","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FJNqzKxiDkvtPjpRCgrRl%2FSnaptik_7008808607315660037_julia-martyniuk.mp4?alt=media&token=1b09b91a-8020-43ca-8bb5-78604d56e2d4"}]},{"address":"Nyhavn","location":{"longitudeDelta":0.14321712068773834,"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"latitude":55.67976758631049,"longitude":12.590798392129194},"media":[{"type":"text","content":"# Nyhavn"},{"metadata":{"width":564,"height":846},"type":"img","version":1,"content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FJNqzKxiDkvtPjpRCgrRl%2Fc704a4915df1c30cdde330a1427ad301.jpg?alt=media&token=ba2c4461-7bf9-4b5c-b9e3-c0c9172faac2"},{"type":"text","content":"The Nyhavn is arguably the most iconic sight in the Danish capital and therefore a must in your Copenhagen itinerary. This estate was built in 1606 and was used as a summer house. It is part of many interesting architectural projects initiated by Christian IV.\n\nThe castle has since been expanded several times and its current version was built in 1624. Rosenborg Castle was planned structurally by architects Hans van Steenwincke and Bertel Lange.\n\nUntil 1710, the castle was the royal residence. On the third floor you will find the Long Hall. It was built in 1624 to serve as a royal ballroom. In the 1700s, it was used as a banquet hall and the Royal Reception Room. It has been known as the \"Knight's Hall\" since the second half of the 19th century.\n\nHere you will find dozens of impressive tapestries depicting the king's victories in the Scanian War. Don't miss the plastered ceiling created in the early 18th century. Key attractions at this castle include the thrones of queens and the coronation of the tyrannical king. In the Great Hall you will find an exquisite collection of 17th-century silver furniture.\n\nJoin one of the public tours held at this castle. The tour will take you through the museum, where you can view artifacts from the Royal Collection.\n\nWhy you should visit:\nThere's a lot of history here and it's well presented. It's not too cluttered so you don't get overwhelmed.\nThe castle interior is splendid with wonderfully preserved works of art and furnishings - especially the tapestries in the throne room.\n\nTip:\nMake sure you tour all the levels, take your time to walk around and don't be in a rush. Plan at least 2-3 hours here if you can. However, you need a coin for the locker to pocket.\nTickets have an admission time to ensure the small rooms are not overcrowded. Book online if you can; otherwise you can take a stroll around the gardens relaxing while waiting for your time.\nHold your ticket to go down to the basement and see the crown jewels! There is a separate entrance to the basement from outside the castle (you can't go down to the basement from inside the castle).\n\nBusiness hours:\nTuesday-Sunday: 10am - 3pm"},{"metadata":{"width":576,"height":1024},"type":"video","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FJNqzKxiDkvtPjpRCgrRl%2FSnaptik_7085008205884984581_walkin.mp4?alt=media&token=4552f125-cd2a-49f8-b94e-49ba1d371ed0"}]}]
