Diplomats, journalists, and business executives aplenty took advantage, and it’s still going strong today thanks to friendly service and close proximity to the conference facilities of the more expensive China World Hotel a block away. Nearly half the guest rooms have balconies (although most overlook a noisy road) and it's too bad that the gym and pool lack a modern touch, but the courtyard gardens in the back are a nice addition."},{"type":"link","content":"https://jianguo.beijing-hotels-china.com/en/"},{"type":"text","content":"# Guide for visitor:\nAlthough you can travel to Beijing throughout the year, autumn (September and October) is the most recommended season to visit because of its relatively pleasant temperature and beautiful scenery.\n\nBeijing shares the same latitude as Philadelphia in the US (but drier in winter and wetter in summer) and Madrid in Spain (although colder in winter).\n\nBeijing's air quality is improving, with better public transportation, reduced vehicle use and the relocation of factories."},{"type":"text","content":"About transportation: You can choose taxi or subway"},{"metadata":{"width":576,"height":1024},"type":"video","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FdvjJMMpK82OD2D0vopk0%2Ft%E1%BA%A3i%20xu%E1%BB%91ng%20(10).mp4?alt=media&token=24316e77-3f3f-4840-afb1-bda7202e785f"}]},{"address":"Temple of Heaven Park","location":{"longitudeDelta":0.14321712068773834,"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"latitude":23.51240030690906,"longitude":113.22648950000001},"media":[{"type":"text","content":"# Loosen up with Tai Chi at the Temple of Heaven Park"},{"metadata":{"width":680,"height":335},"type":"img","version":1,"content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2FdvjJMMpK82OD2D0vopk0%2F20190711110207.jpg?alt=media&token=cce472b4-5ae6-4a64-9070-7761e09f5b0b"},{"type":"text","content":"A great place to start your day in Beijing is the Temple of Heaven Park. The park opens at 6am. Arriving early in the morning, you’ll catch large groups—young and old—practicing the Tai Chi. It’s a relaxing way to loosen up and start your day right. You’ll want to stretch out before you spend the rest of the day on your feet.\n\nBesides Tai Chi, you’ll most likely see people engaging in other activities. It’s a popular park, and it’s easy to get lost in the sprawling complex that also houses numerous religious buildings.\n\nWork your way to the centre of the park, where you’ll find the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests. It features a massive courtyard surrounding the Vault of Heaven. It should only take about 15 to 20 minutes to walk to Qianmen Walking Street in the middle of the Qianmen Residential District.\n\nThe street runs south of Tiananmen Square and offers about 845-meters of stores. When you look north, you may see the top of the palace, depending on the current amount of smog in the air.\n\nQianmen Street provides an interesting mixture of East and West. You can find traditional Chinese food in historic restaurants one or two stores down from a Western fast food chain.\n\nBe careful though: You don’t want to end up spending too much time during your 1-day Beijing itinerary window shopping! Everyone travels through the Forbidden City from south to north.\n\nIf you need to pick up souvenirs, the gift shops and bookstores within the Forbidden City are great choices. Just try not to pick a store with a long line, as you’ll eventually need to continue your journey.\n\nWhen you exit the north gate of the palace, you’ll enter Jingshan park. However, you should first turn left or right and work your way to one of the four turrets of the Forbidden City.\n\nYou can’t access the turrets, but you can get a better view from outside the Forbidden City. It includes many historical buildings, residences, and narrow hutongs.\n\nHutongs are the famous small alleys (almost like courtyards) that cut through most of Beijing. One of these narrow alleys is called Houhai Bar Street, a perfect little escape to enjoy a few drinks.\n\nThere are also many alleys containing small restaurants.
