I had never heard of it before, but I thought it was beautiful. It was well-planned and had beautiful trees, bushes, and flowers. The water features were surrounded by lots of wildfowl and colourful flower displays.\n\nThere were a lot of shady spots to get out of the heat, clean bathrooms, and great views of Funchal City and the huge marina port. I liked the little lizards the most. At first, they were a little nervous, but when I started giving them bananas, they became more calm ( I had read that they ate any unharvested ones that dropped to the ground on the island).\n\nOverall, it was a great way to get away from the busy life of the city. The park, like most things in Madeira, has hills, but the paths are good and there are lots of places to stop, so I would definitely recommend a visit."},{"content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2Fl3hno8T5Eb0s2PAISgGO%2Fsynthesized_audio.mp3?alt=media&token=c93667f2-9063-46a1-b2d4-3aca908f00e8","type":"audio"},{"type":"link","content":"https://www.funchal.pt/"}]},{"address":"Blandy's Wine Lodge (former Adegas de São Francisco)","media":[{"type":"text","content":"# Blandy's Wine Lodge (former Adegas de São Francisco), Funchal, Portugal"},{"content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2Fl3hno8T5Eb0s2PAISgGO%2F3.jpg?alt=media&token=28bfe1d1-331f-4a68-8285-4a90760c34ea","type":"img"},{"type":"text","content":"Even if you don't really like wine, this is a great thing to do while you're in Funchal. The tour is very educational, and it ends with a wine tasting, which will make you want to buy a bottle for yourself. This is a must for the small price they ask. There are wines for every budget, and you don't have to spend a fortune to get a great bottle.\n\nWe had a great time on the tour. Even though I've been on a lot of wine tours, the Madeira wine is different, and that made the tour very interesting. They did a great job making sure that everyone had headphones so that they could hear. Be sure to make a reservation, because when we went during the low season, they were all full. We did what they told us to do and bought wine there. We got it from a shop at the airport just after we went through security. For an adult, a one-way ticket costs €11 and a return ticket costs €16. Children ages 7 to 14 pay €5.50 for a one-way ticket and €8 for a round-trip ticket.\n\nTo get to the parish of Monte, which is in the hills above Funchal, there are two cable cars. The Funchal Teleférico leaves from the city centre, and the Teleférico do Jardim Botanico takes people from the Botanical Gardens to the hills of Monte.\n\nA trip in one direction is about 3,700 metres long and takes about 15 minutes. The views of Funchal are stunning. There are many places to see nearby.","type":"text"},{"type":"audio","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2Fl3hno8T5Eb0s2PAISgGO%2Fsynthesized_audio%20(2).mp3?alt=media&token=b31b407a-9a74-48cd-8219-fb8820fc767c"},{"type":"link","content":"https://madeiracablecar.com/en/"}],"address":"Funchal Cable Car","location":{"longitudeDelta":0.14321712068773834,"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"longitude":-16.902654350000002,"latitude":32.647062760174265}},{"media":[{"content":"# Madeira Botanical Garden, Funchal, Portugal","type":"text"},{"content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2Fl3hno8T5Eb0s2PAISgGO%2F2.jpg?alt=media&token=9d7e94d8-4b9a-4a1c-be18-1c2a71429878","type":"img"},{"type":"text","content":"The gardens are beautiful and much more educational than Monte. They are not as exciting as Monte, but they are still very nice. It looks like they're slowly changing things, and these changes look great. I read some comments about weeding, and yes, there were a few weeds in some beds, but it was still better than my garden. The price to get in was much lower than at Monte, and there were a lot of different kinds of plants.\n\nThere are so many flowers in bloom, and different species have their own areas. If you like flowers, you'll love this place. Even if you've been there before, you'll find something new the next time you go, just like we did. Not all flowers bloom at the same time, so every time you go, you'll see something new. They also have a great cafe with a great view where you can eat and drink. Nothing to say here. Just pure beauty in the world.\n\nThe €6 per person entry fee was well worth it. Just beautiful gardens with flowers and plants that I've never seen or heard of before. There are amazing views of both Funchal and the ocean. Make sure to go on a sunny day, because it makes all the difference. We were here for about 1.5 hours."},{"content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2Fl3hno8T5Eb0s2PAISgGO%2Fsynthesized_audio%20(3).mp3?alt=media&token=6adfdd1b-a21e-4d55-a111-568e2e2f13d2","type":"audio"},{"content":"https://goo.gl/maps/tdDLH9ppQFPwTbrz7","type":"link"}],"address":"Madeira Botanical Garden","location":{"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"longitude":-16.8944777,"longitudeDelta":0.14321712068773834,"latitude":32.662178010180156}},{"media":[{"type":"text","content":"# Palheiro Gardens, Funchal, Portugal"},{"type":"img","content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2Fl3hno8T5Eb0s2PAISgGO%2F5.jpg?alt=media&token=b01c91ee-f148-4bd3-86e6-c2c9bf50d9f2"},{"content":"The gardens at \"Quinta do Palheiro\" are known for both the variety of plants that grow there and the beauty of their location in the hills to the east of Funchal, the capital of Madeira.\n\nMadeira has been called the \"Garden Island\" for a long time, and it seems like almost anything can grow in its rich soil.\n\nMany tropical plants have found a home in Funchal. Hibiscus and Bougainvillea bloom almost all year, and Jacaranda, Spathodeas, Erythrinas, and Bauhinias bloom at the right time.\n\nAbout 500 metres above sea level is where the Palheiro Gardens are found. The estate's first owner, the Conde de Carvalhal, planted a lot of trees and started the Camellia collection. Some of the trees and plants he put in place can still be seen today.","type":"text"},{"content":"https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/freeguides-prod.appspot.com/o/assets%2Ftours%2Fl3hno8T5Eb0s2PAISgGO%2Fsynthesized_audio%20(4).mp3?alt=media&token=9935ca2c-b1c4-421b-b6a6-1ea48c4442d3","type":"audio"},{"content":"https://www.palheironatureestate.com/","type":"link"}],"address":"Palheiro Gardens","location":{"longitudeDelta":0.14321712068773834,"latitude":32.662739160180415,"latitudeDelta":0.09219986310369421,"longitude":-16.868631799999992}}]
