Here you can find new hotels and apartments as well as great choices for food in the local taverns! Some of the benefits of staying here is that it is a pretty open area so you can always have a parking spot and it is really close to the most important attractions, 5’ from Limeni and 10’ from Areopoli. The title of the most impressive hotel goes to “Brazzo di Maina” and “Petra&Fos”. Both hotels have adopted the local architecture with stone walls and small windows, so it really feels like staying in a traditional local house! What’s more, the view from up here is breathtaking! The only place we would recommend staying outside of Neo Oitylo is the Mavromichalai Hotel in Limeni, since it is the Palace of the Mavromichalai family and the history there is priceless! For your convenience I have linked all three hotels! You have arrived in **paradise**! If the sight of the **stunning** harbour of Limeni will not impress you, probably nothing ever will! This was the personal harbour of the Mavromichalai family evidently seen by their palace which now functions as a hotel! Limeni is the most famous place in Lakoniki Mani and for all the right reasons! Here you’ll find the best fish tavern in Greece, amazing seafront spots for coffee or sunset drinks and many little shops! You can’t miss the opportunity to swim in the crystal clear waters along a sea turtle! Keep in mind though that parking spots are scarce and the road is one way, so if you don’t find one you have to start from the beginning! I do recommend if you visit in high season to park when you see the first parked cars after entering the one way road! It might take some more effort but quicker than going through the narrow streets twice! In Areopoli you will find everything you might need in your trip, so go around, talk to people and feel the energy and the history of this place! Don’t forget that this is where the **Greek Revolution** against the Turks started ( a few days earlier than the official date). There are a few places where you can learn about the history of Mani, including the Pikoulakis Tower-House Museum and the Mavromichalai Castle. Go through the Square of the 17th of March and “Plateia Athanatwn” which translated to “Square of the immortals”. What’s more, visit the Taxiarches church, which is the place that the Greek warriors attender after their oath to liberate Greece from the Turks! The bakery has been functional since the Greek Revolution of 1821 and it’s still going strong, being **the oldest bakery** in the Peloponnesus. The ladies running it make everything in their wood-fired oven and you can taste every little piece of the smokiness in the crust of the bread! Fun fact they supply Takis tavern in Limeni with bread, so if you liked it there you have to get some from here! They also sell a variety of snacks as well as local pasta which I totally recommend buying, they won’t disappoint! In Mparmpa Petros I recommend getting cooked dishes like lamb with potatoes or rooster in red sauce with traditional pasta! These are the dishes that ate so worth it here, plain grilled meat you can find elsewhere as well! Don’t miss the opportunity to try these!
