For a very small fee, you can take a short ride to Tavira Island. Enjoy the beautiful views along the river, and be on the lookout for flamingos. Barril Beach is a great place to catch the sunset. You’ll need a taxi or bus to get here from Tavira. Once you arrive at the entrance, you will need to continue by foot (15 min walk each way) or take the beach train along the trail. You will cross over the river via a bridge and continue through a tree lined path. If you plan to take the beach train, be sure to keep an eye on the time. I believe it stops running after 5pm. You’ll have to return by foot.
