This tour is all the artworks of a local Goondiwindi artist, Angus Wilson who has art scattered around our small town. Get your first picture at the entrance with the Nungwai sign, and have a look at some of the creative ways the artist has re-used scraps metals to create these sculptures.\n\n \n\nThen walk along the grass to the Coat of Arms which is a great spot for a post card picture as the Australia has Goondiwindi written on the border right where the town sits. Move along to the Once Upon a Time sculpture which has magnificent old vehicles on the top of posts, with Ibis birds all around. Right next to the boat ramp you will find Goondiwindi’s largest Cod in sculpture form the “Macintyre Cod Fossil”! There is a funny story that goes along with this sculpture as the artists’ son had been looking for a part on the family farm and could not find it anywhere, once the sculpture was unveiled the missing part was spotted right in the middle of the new sculpture. Take some time to look at all the different parts that are included in the sculpture and see if you can pick which machinery they came from. On the other side of the walkway, if you spin around to have a look at the river you will also see the Pelican sculpture “A wonderful bird is the pelican”. Drive on through the entrance and bear left as you go in the drive way. You will see a boat ramp and right next to it is the spectacular sculpture “Botanicus Coranavus 20”. Again, snap a picture here and even go for a dip in the man-made lake that has a nesting island for the native birds. You might even spot a kangaroo or two!
